You won’t have to worry about people kicking sand in your face or fighting for space on the sand. This beach is great for catching some rays (and some waves) without a lot of people around so that you can enjoy yourself with your family or friends without feeling like you’re on a crowded beach.
Many people visit this beach for swimming and snorkeling, as there is no other place close by. The views from this beach are incredible and there’s no better place to watch the sunset.
Plage du Taharuu
South of Tahiti is the Plage du Taharuu, a secluded beach perfect for people who want to escape the world and enjoy their visit to the islands. Overlooking the turquoise waters of Bora Bora, this beautiful beach features a lagoon that stretches from one end to the other.
There is a road that goes down to the beach, about a five-minute walk down, but then you are there. The sand is so white and whiskers of rocks are all over the place. The water is so clear and it smells like salt and fish. You can see everything while on the beach because it is so open! It feels like you’re in another world when you’re at this beach and I would recommend going here if you visit Tahiti!
With warm turquoise water surrounding this beach, it’s a must-see for travelers. The Plage du Taharuu is located just outside Papeete, and it features a small bay with a sandbar at the center. The sandbar makes you feel like you’re barely on the ground and far away from any civilization – just waves crashing onto your feet and a wide expanse of blue in front of you.
Papeete
Papeete is one of Tahiti’s busiest cities, where you’ll find plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. Papeete (also known as Papetahi) is the capital of Tahiti. It was founded in 1820 and named Blanc-Sablon. The principal economic activities in this town are related to tourism and trade, as well as fisheries and agriculture.

James Norman Hall Home
James Norman Hall’s home was built in 1943 and is a central point of Tahiti’s history. It is located on the Boulevard des Polynesian, which is also known as Boulvard des Français. Hall’s home has been open to the public since 1948 and it gives an idea of what life might have looked like in Tahiti when James Norman Hall lived there.
You can tour James Norman Hall Home Museum. Mr. James Norman Hall was one of the first tourists to visit Tahiti in the late 1800s. He built this museum on the island of Tahiti and spent considerable time there during his colonization period. This is the only home museum still in existence from that era and it is filled with furniture, memorabilia, and photos from that time period.
The museum features many interesting artifacts that were collected by Hall during his time in Tahiti and throughout his life. You will find items such as European-French style clothing, African tribal masks, Hawaiian and other Pacific islander art and artifacts. Moorea Dolphin Center
The Moorea Dolphin Center is 5 minutes from the ferry dock and a totally amazing experience. The dolphins are absolutely beautiful and swim right up to you in the crystal-clear water, constantly playing around with each other and you. You’re guaranteed to be enchanted by this hands-on experience.
The staff members are friendly and they show you how to interact with the dolphins. The center is home to four of the world’s seven recognized species of dolphins and coral reefs. It’s also home to a giant aquarium that houses over 2,000 fish and other sea creatures like rays, manta rays, sharks, lobsters, and sea horses.
The facility has various other interactive activities for its guests that include handling and feeding the dolphins, using their dolphin-adapted pool, touching their bottlenose dolphins, and more. There are also guided tours through the center with naturalists who can share facts and tidbits about the local marine life.
